TTM Successes, A Week Late

OK, last of my posting blitz today. I did get two Successes back last week, but was too lazy to post. So here we are.
03-04 Parkhurst Original 6 Toronto Marcel Pronovost
I have had success in the past with Mr. Pronovost, but it a habs card, and that's yucky. This one looks better. Only took about 6 days too!

06-07 Parkhurst Ron Ellis

Don't have a turnaround date on this one, but it was just a couple weeks.

The Lost Card: Sylvain Lefebvre

I knew something was missing when I was scanning my TTM autos. And today, while going through some old hockey card boxes at my parents' house, I found out what it was. You see, I sent two cards in my request to Sylvain Lefebvre. I only had one scanned. So, without further ado...

Moustachi files: John Anderson RTS

So I'm watching some TSN playoff action, and I see former Atlanta Thrashers head coach John Anderson on the panel. This gets me giddy because I have this sweet 84-85 (i believe) OPC card of John sporting his classy moustache (ironically enough, NOT on that top 10 Leafs moustaches video on YouTube). Wait, I'm getting sidetracked here.

The point is, I thought, "Awesome, now I can get his sig!" You see, I have no credit card so I can't get USA stamps at the moment, so I'm only doing Canadian TTM addys for now. And hey, it worked with Jeremy Roenick.

Well, the other day, I got an RTS from the TSN address. I guess he was just stopping in for a few games. Next time Gadget, er, I mean Anderson, next time....

Moustachio Files: Dan Daoust

Once I saw the little moustache on the front of that 89-90 OPC I knew I needed this card signed. I found another less-hilarious 84-85 Topps to throw in, and a couple weeks ago, they came back with a great signature on them. So far, along with Vinny Damphouse and Johnny Bower, Mr. Daoust is one of my favourite signatures, and not just because of the epic 'stache. Another top notch signer.

A TTM Look Back: Tod Sloan

What I knew about Tod Sloan when I sent this card out? He was an old timer (2 key factors in determining that: the black & white picture and the fact that it was an old timers set) and he, apparently played for the Leafs. Also, I had found an address online. So I tried my luck, and if memory serves me right, was successful rather quickly. What I learned about Tod Sloan after I got my card? Well, from the letter that a nice Canada Post employee added to my envelope after ripping it open and adding one of those "Oops, my bad" stickers over the rip, he apparently played minor hockey in Garson, a town about a half hour away from my hometown of Chelmsford. A quick online search showed that he actually played in Copper Cliff, another town a little closer to home, but it's good to know that Canada Post reserves the right to open people's letters as they please...

A TTM Look Back: Peter Zezel

OK, so mail's been a little slow so I decided to do a one by one retrospective of my past TTM successes. First off, my first success, Peter Zezel.

So, anyone who knows my TTM exploits (or has read the first post in this blog) know the story of how I got these 91-92 ProSet and 92-93 Topps cards signed. Mr. Zezel was a favourite of mine during those early 90's Leafs teams of my youth, and his sudden death just over a year ago was a huge shock to Leafs fans everywhere.

TTM Bloggin'

It started a few years ago, while reading my Beckett magazine and watching a Peter Zezel interview on Off The Record, I came across an article regarding TTM (through the mail) autographs. As I was thinking, "I can do that". At that moment, the late Peter Zezel mentioned his Soccer and Hockey camp, along with an address. I quickly jotted it down, and the rest, as they say, is history. I quickly started building a pretty decent Leafs TTM autograph collection, along with some other players. Unfortunately, I steered away from my campaign, until recently, the bug just bit me again. In the past couple of weeks, I sent five requests, with three, Mike Gartner, Dan Daoust and Dave Reid, with three more sent out just this Friday. On this little site, you'll get to check out my progress as I hope to assemble an impressive TTM collection.

So before I start updating the newer successes, here is my current collection. I'll point out at this point that some (IE Wozniewski RC, Ondrus RC, Antropov, Potvin and Kaberle) were obtained through online trades, but the rest were all received in the mail through requests.

Due to time restraints of uploading 30 pictures, I'll just add the link to my Photobucket, which will be updated as new stuff comes in.

Thanks for the look!
